Ghost Tree Invitational
Beneficiary

We're proud to have donated over $70,000 to our 2008 beneficiaries. We'd like to thank all of our sponsors and guests for making this years Ghost Tree Invitational the best yet, our donation increased 65% from 2007 to 2008. The event has really gathered momentum and is a premier event in Central Oregon. Thank you for your support.

Our primary beneficiary for this years event (2008) is the Hospice Center. A portion of the proceeds from the Dinner on the Range will also benefit The Assistance League of Bend.

The entire staff of the Ghost Tree Invitational and the Pronghorn Foundation are excited to work with and assist in raising funds for the Hospice Center. With the recent news of their annual Wine By The River event being deferred to 2009, the Ghost Tree was honored to step in and fill a void in their fundraising efforts. Please join us in supporting the Ghost Tree and in turn the Hospice Center of Bend LaPine.

About the Hospice Center of Bend LaPine:
Selecting hospice care is an important choice in the cycle of life. Hospice helps people facing end-of-life desicions to choose how their final days will be spent. The hospice philosophy is that we all deserve to die with dignity, free of pain in a safe and compassionate environment.

In our Western culture most prefer not to discuss death. Contemplating one's own death or that of a loved one dredges up fear of the unknown, uncontrolled pain, sorrow, loss of dignity or independence and concern for the family left behind. Hospice is often viewed as giving up hope when it should be a shift from a hope of cure to emphasizing quality of life. Once a patient elects hospice service an individual plan is designed specifically for them, allowing the patient to live as fully and comfortably as possible.

Just as a midwife or doctor provides support and care during the birth of a child, hospice provides specialized care and knowledge during the dying process, focusing on the individual patient while supporting their caregiver, family and friends. It is for the person who has a life expectancy of six months or less and would receive no further benefit from curative treatments for their disease.

Hospice care is unique. It treats the person, not the disease. Care is delivered 7 days a week by a fully trained and supportive team of professionals and volunteers. Medical care, including pain and symptom management for the patient, support services for family and friends, emotional support and spiritual needs are all addressed in a patient's home, wherever “home” may be.
